How Long Will it Take for My New Concrete Driveway to Be Ready?

Mar. 28th 2015

Everyone loves a new concrete driveway or RV pad, or any other new slab of concrete, for that matter. New concrete can really improve the look of your property and enhance the value as well. It is also very useful. One of the most common questions we get when a customer is looking to get a new slab of concrete, is how long will it take to dry, or how long before I can start to use it? The waiting is the hardest part.

There are several drying and curing phases to new concrete so it’s important that you are aware of the process.

  • Two days after – during the first two days your concrete will harden significantly, but it still won’t have a lot of strength, which means you should avoid all kinds of traffic, including foot and even pet traffic.
  • First week – after the first two days during the rest of the first week you should be able to walk on your concrete without causing any damage. On the other hand, you should avoid playing on the surface with bikes, skateboards and other toys.
  • After the first week – once the first week has passed you can actually start to drive on your new surface, but you should try to stay away from the edges as those can still crack much easier.
  • 30 days – after 30 days your new concrete surface will be fully operational for whatever purposes you have. However, most residential surfaces are not designed to withstand the kind of force that comes from extremely heavy trucks like a dump truck or garbage truck.

Need a Bank Repo Remodeled in Vancouver WA?

Mar. 14th 2015

Although the housing market has shown some signs of recovery recently, which has decreased the number of bankruptcies, foreclosures and repossessed homes in the Vancouver and Portland areas, there are many bank owned properties that are still sitting unoccupied and essentially going to waste. These homes can be a real problem for banks, because not only have their previous owners stopped making payments, in many cases they leave the homes in poor condition, making them harder to sell.

Unfortunately, some people don’t take the news that their home is being repossessed very well. Many homeowners who are forced to give up their home will leave them in terrible condition. That means you could need new carpet, paint, trim and many other fixes. The repairs could be big or small, but they need to get done if you want to have a better chance of selling the home to another owner.

At Direct Finish Construction we have worked on many bank owned homes to get them back in livable condition and ready to be put back on the market. We can do a thorough job and get your foreclosed or repossessed home ready to sell again quickly.

We have worked on homes in all kinds of conditions, from the badly damaged to the heavily used. Whatever the case, we can turn that run down repo into a nice looking living space once again. If you have repossessed homes sitting there unoccupied that you need to get listed fast, then please contact us today at Direct Finish Construction.
