Concrete Contractors in Vancouver, WA Get Rid of Winter Wear

Apr. 18th 2014
Time to get rid of the winter grime from your home and your driveway.

Time to get rid of the winter grime from your home and your driveway.

As residents of this great Northwest, we are looking forward to the summer which comes after the rainy winter. As the moisture falls concrete tends to become covered in lots of mildew and grime. Once the sun comes out, this winter covering dries and becomes its own form of concrete. Pressure washing will remove some of this. However in other cases, the weather and wear may destroy the look of your patio, driveway or sidewalks.

If grass and weeds are poking through the cracks in your concrete, call Direct Finish Construction.  They can check your patio or driveway and tell you whether it’s time to tear out the old and bring on the new or if you just need a repair.  If the repair requires more than two inches of material, then you may need to seriously think about replacing the concrete rather than fixing. If the damage is minor there are a number of products on the market that can restore both the concrete’s structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.

Concrete will eventually wear out. Over time, the elements will cause the concrete to break down. However, the deterioration is more pronounced when it is poorly installed. Often not enough attention is paid to the subbase and matching the application to the cement product or the location of the expansion joints.

Concrete expands in the heat and contracts when the weather turns cold. If the expansion joints are not spaced properly, the stress caused by the expansion and contraction will eventually result in cracking.

Deterioration and the extent of damage are not the only things you consider when deciding whether to replace or repair. Aesthetics is also important. You want your patio and driveway to match the beauty of your yard. This might mean pouring new concrete. Beauty can also be accomplished by stenciling or stamping a wide variety of designs.

Get an opinion and a price from an experienced concrete contractor.

Call Direct Finish Construction today if you have any concrete projects you want done. You don’t have to wait until July or August. They can help you today.
